Commitment to the Future

By its 100th anniversary in 2018, Panasonic aims to be the No.1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry. Our mission to continually minimize impact on the Earth is outlined in the Green Plan 2018, a document that outlines concrete initiatives all Panasonic Group employees should carry out in order to make the environment central to all business activities.

Eco-Manufacturing

Over the life of a product - from concept to retirement - manufacturing can often have the biggest impact on the environment. Panasonic is committed to ensuring that the manufacturing process has the smallest environmental effect possible. To this end:

  • Panasonic products, including mobile computers, flat-panel displays, DVD players, digital cameras and cellular telephones, are built using lead-free soldering.
  • 78% of Panasonic factories recycle 98% of their waste.
  • Plastic resins are kept to a minimum, for easier recycling.

Innovative Features

The engineers at Panasonic keep the environment in mind by designing products that are long lasting, convenient and eco-efficient. From tapeless video production tools to energy-efficient mobile computers, and projectors with auto power save to plasmas with eco-friendly NeoPDP technology, Panasonic products are some of the most eco-friendly in their category.

Milestones and Awards

Panasonic's reputation as an environmentally-conscious company dates back to it's founder Konosuke Matsushita and his belief in putting people before products. From the establishment in 1970 of a pollution survey committee to the formation in 2006 of a full-time environmental specialist position, Panasonic has been developing eco-friendly policies in a quest to minimize its impact on the environment. As a result, the company has been recognized with environmental awards by groups ranging from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to Dow Jones.
